Waiting On Wednesday (8)

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.  I highly encourage you to get to know your fellow bloggers and see what's new and upcoming in the book world!

Here's what I'm waiting on:

by Cynthia Hand
Release Date: 01.04.2011

Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what it is, though, isn't easy.

Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place--and out of place, at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.

As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make--between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?

Okay, this book is so not my type at first glance.  I'm not into angel books.  However, I cannot ignore the truly wonderful early reviews out on this right now.  People claim it's a whole other spin on the angel story.  I'm a sucker for a good paranormal story, so I'm in.  Game on.

So, what are you waiting on?

  6. Great pick. I have this from Netgalley and hopefully it will be as good. I struggle with the whole angel theme books lately but I am hoping this will change it :)

  7. I'm totally with you. At first glance, I'm all meh... but I have read a few review that indicate otherwise so I'm adding it to the TBR. :D

  8. I love the cover, but I'm still not sure about reading it.

    Nice pick!
